He joined the Blazers in August 2005 as an assistant to Nate McMillan and took on added responsibility this season when an Achilles injury restricted McMillan's mobility on the bench during games.

Sam osobiście trzymałem kciuki za podisaniem Toma Thibodeau - niestety ten Master of D chyba wybrał kierunek Wschodni (Chicago lub NJ Nets). Pozytywnie nakręca Mnie jednak fakt, że Monty był najlepszym wyborem dla CP3 - sam Paul przyznał, że właśnie Williams jest jego głównym kandydatem na coacha Hornets... tak więc witamy Cię Monty na pokładzie i życzymy samych sukcesów
Kontrakt ma obowiązywać przez 3 lata z możliwością przedłużenia przez władze Hornets na kolejny rok...

Jeżeli mogą zrezygnować po roku to nie jest źle. Z tego co piszą to Thibodeu wybierze prawdopodobnie Bulls. Monty był asystentem Popa i Nate'a więc może wypali jako Head Coach.
