After further evaluation on Saturday, New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul(notes) is expected to be on crutches for two weeks and could miss three weeks to a month with a severely sprained left ankle, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

There was no structural damage found in an MRI administered on Saturday, but the severity of the sprain pushed back the original belief on Friday night that Paul could return within one to two weeks.

“It’s just really sore right now,” a source said.

Nevertheless, Paul is hopeful that aggressive treatment and sheer determination can speed up the timetable and get him back to the Hornets as quickly as possible. The Hornets are 3-7, and must now turn to rookie point guard Darren Collison and third-string Bobby Brown. The Hornets traveled to Atlanta for a game on Saturday night.

“Even with the bad situation, his attitude is not “Why bother?” one source said. “It’s his team and he knows that. He doesn’t want to let anyone down. He’s determined to get back as fast as he can.”

Hornets w tym momencie idą do nikąd, awans do play-off mają już praktycznie z głowy, a jak Paul wróci, to nie ma po co wypruwać sobie żył, kiedy takie działanie spowoduje obniżenie w notowaniach przed draftem.
Jakby nie patrzeć, sytuacja bez wyjścia, i żeby uspokoić każdego, oddanie Paula praktycznie nie wchodzi w grę...

już bez przesady. CP3 nie wypadł na cały sezon, ale ja bym zrobił czystki na lato 2010 gdybym był GM. Powalczyć o takiego Bosha, który z CP3 mógłby stworzyć naprawdę dobry duet. Ciekawe co z tą plotą o Okaforze w Sacto, teraz piszą o tym na Real gm.

Wszystko na to wskazuje, że kostka Paula ma się coraz lepiej i zobaczymy CP3 już za ok. 10 dni na parkietach NBA...

Bower said Paul is making progress and is following the plan that has been specified for his rehabilitation.

"We continue to wait until he's able to run, cut and jump, " Bower said.

Neither Paul nor Bower would issue a timetable for a return, but it could be within 10 days, based on the amount of work Paul is doing now.

"It looks like he's getting back into shape, " Collison said. "We're going to need him, so the faster he comes back, the better it is for us."
